About the Facility – Wasco State Prison (WSP)

Job Type - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Clinical Psychologist conducts initial mental health evaluations, including assessments of criminal, psychological, and substance abuse history.
- Perform clinically sound suicide risk evaluations using established protocols.
- Engage in crisis intervention and group psychotherapy with mentally ill inmates/wards.
- Conduct face-to-face interviews, including at cell fronts in housing units.
- Identify signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders to assess and diagnose inmate conditions.
- Develop and write clinical reports outlining diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment plans.
- Document all patient interactions, treatment provided, and progress notes in compliance with institutional standards.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records in accordance with CA and Correctional Facility regulations.
- The Clinical Psychologist collaborates with treatment team members and institutional healthcare personnel on complex cases.
- Establish relationships with community programs and resources to support inmates' reintegration efforts.
- Provide mental health education to inmates/wards.
- Assist inmates in applying for entitlement benefits and community services.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new treatment and rehabilitation programs.
- The Clinical Psychologist adheres to mandated reporting requirements for child and elder abuse, and threats of harm.
Job Type - REQUIREMENTS
- Doctoral Degree in Psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
- A minimum of 1 year of independent clinical practice as a Clinical Psychologist within the last three years, excluding internship experience.
- Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in California.
- Maintain BLS certification from the American Heart Association or client.
