About the Facility – Kayenta Client
Kayenta Health Center, part of the Indian Health Service (Client), provides comprehensive healthcare services to the Navajo Nation in Kayenta, Arizona. The facility offers a wide range of primary and preventive care, including family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatric services, ensuring that the local population receives essential healthcare close to home. Kayenta Client is equipped with 24-hour emergency services, providing immediate care for urgent medical situations. In addition to primary and emergency care, the health center also offers specialized services such as dental care, optometry, behavioral health, and pharmacy services. Kayenta Client focuses on holistic healthcare, incorporating community health programs and preventive care initiatives aimed at improving the overall well-being of the Navajo people. The center is committed to delivering culturally sensitive care, supporting both the physical and mental health needs of the community it serves.

ER Physician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The ER Physician shall maintain a continuous vigil within the immediate confines of the Emergency Department in order that services are readily and immediately available.
- Shall obtain a medical history, perform a physical examination as appropriate to the presenting issue, formulate a diagnosis of the patient's problem, and secondary diagnosis, as required, to treat the patient.
- Render immediate medical services to those patients determined as emergent.
- The ER Physician will request and interpret laboratory and radiologic tests, as necessary, for diagnosis.
- Provide and order medically indicated treatment.
- Interpret x-rays and electrocardiograms.
- Suture minor lacerations and treat uncomplicated fractures.
- Refer patients as appropriate to routinely scheduled clinics of the Outpatient department.
- Render initial assessments of which Emergency Department/Urgent Care Patients will require transfer to a tertiary care center and consult the appropriate physician on-call who in turn will render the final decision concerning transfer and arrange transfer, if indicated.
- The ER Physician responds to in-hospital emergencies while on duty.
ER Physician - REQUIREMENTS
- Must be MD or DO and be capable of treating patients of all ages.
- Must have an active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary-action license as a nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
- Shall be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine through ABEM, ACEP, or AOBEM with no less than 2 years of full-time ER experience.
- Must have a current DEA.
- Must have and maintain current certification in BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association.
