About the Facility – Calipatria State Prison

Psychologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

  • The Psychologist assesses inmates' mental health needs and suggesting treatment plans based on their criminal, psychological, and substance abuse histories.
  • Talking with mentally ill inmates to help them during crises, group therapy, or one-on-one meetings, sometimes at their cell fronts.
  • Using psychological tests to understand inmates better and provide appropriate care.
  • Keeping detailed records of all interactions with inmates and attending team meetings.
  • The Psychologist monitors inmate progress using Subjective Assessment Plan Evaluation FORMATTED PROGRESS NOTES.
  • Teaching inmates about mental health and creating resources for them, especially those with mental illness or who are sex offenders.
  • Sharing patient information with relatives only if they've given permission.
  • The Psychologist makes sure the facility stays safe and orderly, preventing escapes or harm to anyone.

Psychologist - REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree: Must have a PhD. or PsyD.
  • Education: Graduate from a college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Experience: Need at least one year of full-time experience in the last three years working as Psychologist.
  • Licensure: Must have a full, unrestricted license to practice in the state of California.
