This opportunity is in Northern Arizona, where the Hopi and Navajo Nations meet. If you like the outdoors and are fascinated by Native culture, this assignment is for you. You will be working five minutes from Canyon de Chelly, one of the largest and most significant archaeological preserves in the U.S., and if you are not fascinated by the 5,000-year history of the park, you will be stunned by its red rock formations and wooded, red-floored canyons. Meanwhile, you will be within driving distance of five other National Parks, including the Grand Canyon. You won't want to miss the Hubble Trading Post, where Navajo and Hope traded wool blankets for pesh-tai, tokens they could use to buy other goods. It has been essentially unchanged since 1883. More importantly, you will be alleviating the health care shortage in one of the most underserved regions in the U.S. Navajo and Hopi are 5-6 times more likely to suffer from debilitating chronic health conditions due to poor living conditions and lack of access to care.

Airport Information: Albuquerque International Sunport
The Albuquerque International Sunport, known for its distinct southwestern architecture and cultural décor, is New Mexico's largest commercial airport, welcoming over 5 million passengers each year. The Sunport boasts a world-class art collection, unique amenities, New Mexican cuisine, and many local artisanal gifts. approximately 5 miles southeast of downtown. It serves as the primary airport for the region and offers more than 250 nonstop flights daily to various destinations.

About the Facility: Tsaile Health Center
This facility is located in Northeast Arizona as part of the Chinle Service Unit. It is an ambulatory care center and is situated at the base of the Lukachukai Mountain range with local elevations of 7,000 to 8,000 feet. Two lakes are within 10-15 minutes and offer camping, fishing, and non-motorized boating. The Tsaile Health Center has 9,031 registered clients. Clinic hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (closed on holidays). The clinic is located on the Colorado Plateau with excellent opportunities for photography, hiking, running, road biking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is within 30 miles of the clinic and is a wonderful place for exploring and sightseeing, running and mountain biking.

Primary Care Physician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• The Primary Care Physician performs comprehensive medical history evaluations and physical examinations on patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Diagnose medical conditions and order appropriate laboratory tests, imaging studies (e.g., X-rays), and other diagnostic procedures as needed.
• Refer patients to external hospitals or physicians for services not available within the Indian Health Service Healthcare Delivery System.
• Collaborate with other agencies or health facilities on behalf of patients and their families to arrange admissions to hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and skilled nursing facilities.
• Organize emergency ground and/or air medical transport as required.
• Analyze clinical data, develop therapeutic programs, and communicate information effectively to patients and their families.
• The Primary Care Physician provides support to patients and families in times of illness.
• Maintain accurate and timely Electronic Health Records (EHR) with detailed clinical documentation, including diagnosis codes. Complete all EHR notes within 24 hours of patient encounters.
• Prescribe medications and treatment therapies in coordination with nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare personnel.
• Follow up on treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
• Provide ongoing individual counseling for common social and emotional issues.
• Recognize the need for referral to a mental health professional when necessary.
• The Primary Care Physician consults independently with medical and surgical specialists to discuss patient care and arrange referrals as needed to appropriate health facilities.

Primary Care Physician - REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) in Family Medicine or certified by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
• Possess a current, valid, and unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
• Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification are required.
• Must have a minimum of 3 or more years of direct patient service.
